For a Room That No Longer Exists
An exploration of fragmented childhood memory and containment through an archive of vessels and objects
Edith
A tribute to my late nanny, Edith "Debbie" Wellington. A giraffe-inspired texture references her favorite animal, the flower-shaped stopper recalls a pillow she used to pitch us in our games of bedroom baseball, and the perfume my mom used to buy her sits within the piece, so you can smell her when you open it.
£1,050

Drape
An intricately painted chair, reminiscent of a safe space where you'd sit to read a book in the corner of the room. The removable lid reveals the first book I read during my childhood; Amelia Bedelia.
£650

Containment
A vessel to hold an object of significance. A tediously dotted surface echoes that of the piece "Drape"The intention of the dots: to achieve intimacy to intricacy, and a nod to tattoos. In my adult life, I've accumulated over 100 tattoos and this design feels like a bridge between a younger version of myself and who I am now-- small dots that make up something larger.
£350

Gilded Memory
A lock box. A gilded interior speaks to how we can gild over memories as we distance ourselves from them. We misremember, we fill in holes, and some memories seem shinier than they may have actually been... or even the opposite.
£350

Threshold
Exploration of aging and texture on a piece that references the chairs we would pull up to the threshold between the kitchen and living room so we could watch TV and eat without getting in trouble for "eating in the living room".
£180

How The Room Was
Playful swirls adorn the inside of this shallow textured vase, inspired by drawing on the walls and a game I would play with my siblings where we'd spin in endless circles.
£775

Proof
The swirl pattern is echoed in this piece and recalls the idea of a locket- a place for keepsakes, the ones you wish to keep closest to your heart.
£370

Textures A & B
Explorations of texture on the simplest form, a cup. Referencing the act of dining together at a table with your family.
£120 each

Connections
As we grow and change, our memories branch off, beginning to distort the further we move away from them. Another sense of intimacy through intricacy with the dotted surface that extends out to a fragmented glaze.
£300

Facades 01 & 02
A direct nod to the beautiful brick house in New Jersey that holds these memories. Long after I've gone and there's no one left to remember, I like to think the walls always will.
£140 each
